Jim Danza MS AICP
Jim Danza is an Assistant Professor at Oxnard College in Geography and Environmental Science/Resource Management. His areas of interest are deeply seated in science, but crosses over the human-environmental interaction in his teaching and as a local environmental leader and urban planner under the American Institute of Certified Planners. Jim enjoys hiking and backpacking, and world travel.
He applies active learning through field experiences with his students. He often moves his lecture into the field and provides students opportunities for service learning and internships in the community as well as day and overnight field trips. Use of in-class equipment and samples, group work, and student lead question/answers is used to assess learning and encourage students to teach each other. He connects with each student individually to provide assistance and resources through contact time during and after class.
CAL-ACT Catalysts connect with current CAL-ACT cohort members on a regular basis to mentor, partner and coach.
