After having dropped out of high school, obtaining his M.S. in Physics was a very proud moment. Shortly after that, Justin began teaching Physics at Oxnard College. Justin claims, “I really couldn’t imagine doing anything else as nothing is more satisfying to me than imparting knowledge, direction, and confidence to the students of today. I am honored to be able to play a part in their journeys towards their dreams.”
Justin believes that active learning is an important aspect of Physics in that not only ‘seeing is believing,’ but it also often endows one to obtain a higher degree of understanding. While the theories and mathematical models result directly from understanding a given system or effect, the understanding generally comes from thinking, experimenting, and investigating. Active learning enables students to make the connections necessary to really understand, which is much different than just knowing equations.
